BANGALORE: The South Western Railways (SWR), similar to private agencies, will soon have to forego its land for the widening of the road near the K R Puram Railway station, to decongest traffic on Whitefield Road under Krishnarajapuram Cable Suspension Bridge.

Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) Commissioner Siddhaiah, on Thursday, met SWR officials and assured them that they would be compensated with alternative sites, with their offices being relocated near the Outer Ring Road and Whitefield.

Orders to chalk out plans for their rehabilitation, for the acquisition of the Railway Quarters and other private encroachments on the site adjacent to K R Puram Railway station, were also issued.

“The traffic police department will be consulted before constructing the loop road at the Benniganahalli Grade Separator. The loop will facilitate the smooth flow of vehicles from the Northern part of the Outer Ring Road to City Centre,” said Siddhaiah.
