BANGALORE: Members of the Peripheral Ring Road-1 (PRR-1) Affected Families Hitharakshana Samiti appealed to the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) on Friday to adhere to the initial plan for the ring road.

They said that they would not allow further construction until the agency followed the original alignment of the road being 60 metres wide.

Speaking to the media, Samiti secretary S Shankar said they were not against PRR's construction but resented the irregularities that have occurred in the alignment.

As per the new alignment, farmers in Madanayakanahalli, Hanumantha Sagara, Kuduregere, Soladevanahalli, Avalahalli, Nagenahalli, Venkatala, Kattigena Halli, Kogilu, Bile Shivale, Dodda Gubbi, Chikka Gubbi, Sorehunise and Seagehalli villages will be affected.

“Around 500 houses, thousand sites, gas pipelines and many educational institutions will be affected once the road is widened to 100 metres from 60 metres, according to the decision taken on June 2005. Objections raised at meetings with BDA officials and during preliminary notifications have not had any impact,” Shankar said.

Preliminary notification for part one was called on September 2005 and for part two in December 2005.
