A 'model plan' for B'lore

A 'model plan' for B'lore
Bangalore, DHNS:
After a gap of nearly a year, talk on the importance of building infrastructure facilities in the IT capital has begun in the corridors of power...

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who on Tuesday inspected rain-affected areas across the City, vowed to transform Bangalore into a “model city in the country” by giving special thrust on infrastructure development.

“I have sought financial assistance for the purpose from the Prime Minister during a meeting on Monday. I will meet the PM again with regard to clearance of pending projects for the State,” he told reporters after holding a meeting with officials of civic agencies and City MLAs.

The Congress MLAs responded positively to the CM’s invitation to join him on the City tour and participate in a meeting to discuss City’s problems. The CM gave a patient hearing to the MLAs when they pointed many lacunae.
Three Congress MLAs, Ramalinga Reddy, Dinesh Gundu Rao and V Somanna kept themselves off the programme.

The CM inspected the collapsed wall of storm water drain in Papaiah Garden at CK Achchukatte in Banashankari, Silk Board junction and Puttenahalli at JP Nagar. He was scheduled to visit eight places but was forced to cut short as he got a call from Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor.

Later, he held a meeting with officials and MLAs. While directing the heads of all three civic agencies - BBMP, BDA and BDA - he warned them he would not hesitate to take action against corrupt officials.

He asked BBMP officials to be prepared for the monsoon. He assured he would hold similar meetings with officials and MLAs every month to take stock of the situation.
