BANGALORE: A web portal to get live information on traffic status, directions and auto fares has been launched by Mapunity in association with the local traffic police and Airtel. The web portal, which can be accessed at www.bits.in, provides information on the status of traffic and gives directions within the city. It can also be used as a resource base for car pooling.

People, who are unfamiliar with city routes and feel that they are being cheated by auto drivers, can use the facility to find the approximate hire charges.

And for those who prefer to travel by bus there is detailed information on various bus routes. There is a section on accident-prone roads in the city. Users who need information on traffic in a particular area can visit the website and note down the area codes for these routes and then SMS 52225.
