CII-Karnataka chairman S Viswanathan, past president K N Shenoy and a few other members met the new CM on Tuesday and greeted him.

The CII team explained that development of backward areas, focus on agriculture, attracting investment in industry, and urban and rural infrastructure needed immediate Government attention. It also requested the CM to fix another meeting with CII to discuss various issues and concerns pertaining to industrial development in the state.

In a press release, CII chairman Viswanathan further said that CII’s emphasis has been on inclusive growth and it was keen to work with the Government for development of backward areas of the state, besides giving boost to rural connectivity and agro-based industries.

Referring to CII’s vision document for 2025, he said, there was a growing demand for rural employment opportunities to cure regional imbalances and the strain on urban infrastructure.

He has urged the Government to ensure timely completion of infrastructure projects for better connectivity and to encourage public-private partnership in infrastructure development, across the state and in Bangalore city. The CII chairman has also sought hastening of some projects related to Mysore like Mysore Airport, doubling of railway track from Bangalore to Mysore, completion of BMIC project and implementation of registered KIADB plots.
