BDA in the eye of a land storm
BDA in the eye of a land storm
TIMES NEWS NETWORK
The prime properties of BDA have always been the target of the land mafia. Be it the encroachment of sites or scams in the allotment of alternative sites, the BDA employees have had a major role in aiding the land grabbers.
The latest set of skeletons that have tumbled out of the cupboard is the irregularities in the allotment of alternative sites. Here too, senior officers occupied centrestage in providing all the “necessary help’’ to site allottees for more lucrative sites in prime areas.
The land scam in the BDA came to light during the tenure of its commissioner Jayakar Jerome who exposed the ugly nexus between the employees and land grabbers. In a series of recoveries, the BDA reclaimed its lands on which buildings were constructed and it was the handiwork of one person, Narasimhamurthy, who had encroached upon more than 10 sites. The case was handed over to the CoD for investigations and three employees were dismissed from service.
A recent case where the BDA recovered a commercial complex in Rajajinagar also raised many a eyebrows. This huge site was registered in a third party’s name with the help of BDA employees who not only signed on the registration document but also helped in getting the plans sanctioned for the building construction.
Also, not to forget, BDA’s stray site allotments are always in the eye of the storm as sites are allotted to the kith and kin of politicians and all and sundry.
