BANGALORE: Lack of coordination between civic agencies has led to a severe pollution in the once pristine lakes of the City.

A recent study by environmentalists from Urban Forest Department and scientists from Bangalore University on seven lakes in Bangalore North(between Tumkur Road and Bellary road) reveals that lakes have become dumping yards of solid and hazardous wastes.

The technical committee points out that increasing negligence has aggravated water crises and reduced water quality.

The committee includes Dr A N Yellappa Reddy, Prof Dr N Nandini(Department of Environmental Science), Mr Chetan (Department of Geology), Forest officials ACF Nagaraj Naik and P R Nanjunde.

Speaking to this website's newspaper, Dr Reddy said the report will soon be presented to the Lok Adalat to initiate immediate monitoring, restoration and maintenance of lakes.

“Under the court's directions, stringent and swift measures would be taken for restoration. Lack of coordination between civic agencies has reduced the lakes to their present state,” he said.
