Mob vents fury after mishap
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Tension prevailed on Mysore Road, near Old Guddadahalli, after a three-year-old girl was run over by a BMTC bus in the Byataraya-napura traffic police station limits on Thursday.

Around 12:40 pm, a mob stoned the killer bus and blocked the busy Mysore-Bangalore Road, disrupting traffic for nearly an hour and a half.

Police brought the situation under control after resorting to a mild lathi-charge.

The child, Fatima Zehra, an adopted daughter of Rashid Jamal, died on the spot.

“Fate has played havoc with Rashid’s life. The couple had been without any issue for nearly eight years after their marriage. Then, much against their parents’ wishes, they decided go for adoption. Today, it’s back to square one,” recollects Riaz, a close relative of Rashid.

Rashid, a resident of Manjunathnagar, is into saree-printing business.

Police said that at the time of the accident, Fatima was sitting in her mother’s lap in the pillion seat and Rashid was riding the two-wheeler.

The family was heading home after shopping in the City Market. After passing the BWSSB petrol bunk junction, Rashid is said to have lost control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid a pothole, and then swerved to the extreme right. A BMTC bus (KA-01-F1659 route no 59) plying between K R Market and Vijayanagar hit the two-wheeler from behind. The child fell off the two-wheeler and came under the front wheel of the bus.
Within seconds, a mob gathered at the spot and stoned the bus.

Instead of helping in removing the child’s body, the mob argued and fought with the police.

Jawaraiah, the driver of the bus, was arrested and produced before a magistrate court.Mob vents fury after mishap
