Let your eyes feast on the sky-lit swanky new Bengaluru International Airport that offers luxury and convenience from the word go. Team TOI gives you a first-hand report on what’s on offer

Though the drive to the new Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) may still be bumpy, the facilities on offer at the airport are sure to relieve one’s stress levels.
Passengers who are used to parking and traffic woes that have plagued the HAL airport, will be in for a pleasant surprise.
The car park at BIA can accommodate approximately 2,000 vehicles.
A 10-minute free drop-off facility has been made available, which is going to ease congestion and traffic snarls within the airport. Adding a touch of luxury, BIA is providing valet-parking facilities.
The parking areas have been demarcated into five zones which include, long-term parking, shortterm parking, two-wheeler parking, general parking and parking for taxis. Details of all this have been put up on sign boards that can easily be spotted.
Moving inside the terminal building, which can accommodate 2,733 passengers an hour, passengers have access to a wide range of easy checkin facilities and shopping arcades.
For the on-the-go travellers, who like to carry their work wherever they go, BIA provides for free wi-fi access.
Passengers can avail this facility by opting for a few quick steps: Enter your mobile number and an authentication request on your laptop screen pops up after which you will receive an SMS with the pin number on your mobile phone.
For mothers with infants, there is a dedicated babycare facility in the terminal building. This facility has private nursing rooms as well.
In addition, BIA has put in place a number of helpline options for passengers to clarify their doubts on flight arrivals and departures.
A website www.bengaluruairport.com has been launched which provides passengers with live traffic updates in the city, airport information, information on Karnataka and south India, and company information on BIAL.
