Rally throws traffic out of gear

Rally throws traffic out of gear
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Several pro Kannada organisations, led by Karnataka Rakshana Vedike president T A Narayana Gowda, on Wednesday staged a protest rally in front of Kempe Gowda statue at Yelahanka, demanding the government to fulfil their various demanding, including naming the Bengaluru International airport after Kempe Gowda.

Narayan Gowda said that Kannada activists would not allow any flight to take off from the airport if it was not named after Kempe Gowda. The government had promised to employ those who sacrificed their land for the airport. The airport had created nearly 7000 job opportunities, but Kannadigas had been neglected during recruitment, he alleged.

The contract for taxi service had been given to a private operator in the new airport forcing more than 700 taxi drivers, working at the HAL Airport, to come to the streets.
