Rain brings cool relief
Bangalore, DHNS:
Bangaloreans heaved a sigh of relief on Wednesday evening as the temperature dropped in the City following sudden heavy showers.
The City, which recorded a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, received 18.6 mm rain between 5.30 pm and 8 pm. Two trees - one at Nandini Layout and another at Mahalakshmi Layout - were uprooted by heavy winds.
Meanwhile, Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Committee, which has been working in collaboration with the Centre for Mathematical Models and Computer Simulation since 2001, has said the monsoon is likely to advance into the State early this year. The State may have deficit rainfall in some parts.
Dr V S Prakash, director of the committee, said their weather pattern study indicated the State will get monsoon rains early. “We have run through the seven parameters and results up to April and we found conditions were favourable for early onset of monsoon.”
