Using cameras hidden in dustbins, BBMP will shame Bangaloreans into cleanliness
The BBMP has gone hi-tech in its bid to make the Bangalorean blush.
Tired of taking the rap for a dirty city, the municipal authorities have installed small cameras in dustbins, lamp posts and even crevices of certain walls in the city.
These cameras, small enough to fit into a palm, were installed at various locations last night.
Bangaloreans who spit on walls, lamp posts or in other public places will be hugely embarrassed to see their pictures pasted on special hoardings. These photographs will be titled Hall of Shame.
Punch line
The BBMP’s smart machines do more than take pictures. Men who have got used to believing the world is their toilet will be biffed on the face by a punching arm.
The arm shoots out from walls the minute they take a leak against it.
The punch will be monitored just so that the man staggers back in shock, not real pain, and a voice that shouts, “And don’t forget to zip that fly!”
Practical solution
The campaign has been conceptualised by Last Laugh, an agency with its office on Airport Road.
The agency specialises in creative solutions to practical problems. Its catchline is: Believe this because it sounds cool, but don’t forget you’re an April Fool.
