Masterplan 2015: HC admits plea
TIMES NEWS NETWORK
Bangalore: The high court on Monday admitted a plea challenging the revised Masterplan 2015. A division bench headed by Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph has ordered notices to the state, BDA, BBMP, BMRDA and other civic agencies.
City-based Citizens’ Action Forum has claimed the CDP notified on June 25, 2007, by the BDA doesn’t have any jurisdiction.
“There has been steep reduction in the green belt from 56% in the 1995 plan to 35% in the present one. They have done away with zonal planning by permitting mixed use of land. The increase in floor area ratio (FAR) will increase the density of population and virtually choke the city. The exercise has ignored the suggestions of BMRDA and BWSSB,’’ the petitioners have claimed.
‘Better ban mining’
The high court has observed that the state should ban mining instead of creating hurdles for truckers transporting ore.
“If you (state) don’t want to allow ore-laden trucks to ply, it’s better you ban mining itself in the larger interest,’’ Justice K L Manjunath observed before adjourning the hearing of a plea filed by North Karnataka Lorry Owners’ Association.
The petitioners have objected to the limited movement of trucks between 11 pm and 5 am in Hubli since October 27, 2006.
