Tamil channels: Operators undecided

Tamil channels: Operators undecided
DH News Service,Bangalore:
The cable operators in the City havent come to any decision so far to stop telecasting Tamil channels as demanded by the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike.

Amruth Kumar of the Karnataka Cable TV Chamber of Commerce said, he has no idea about any meeting of the Cable TV owners with the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike.
He, however, said the cable operators are ready to co-operate with the Rakshana Vedike for the cause.
When contacted a cable network owner said the total ban on Tamil channels is difficult to adhere when there is competition from DTH service providers.
“We are ready to ban the Tamil channels but is it possible to prevent DTH service providers from telecasting Tamil channels. It is literally not possible when there is a serious threat to our business from DTH,” said the cable network owner.
He said, cable operators can ban telecasting Tamil channels for a day or two to show solidarity towards Karnataka Rakshana Vedike’s concern for the state.
