HC admits PIL against Metro Rail project

The High Court on Thursday admitted a PIL filed by CMH Shops and Establishments and Residents’ Association challenging the very commissioning of the Metro Rail project. The court ordered issue of notices to the Centre and State governments, while adjourning the hearing to first week of June. At the hearing on Thursday, Advocate General B V Acharya said the project had been started after taking legal opinion from retired judges and the Attorney General.
A comprehensive model Bill for the project is also being prepared, he said, adding there has been no violation of the Railways Act as alleged in the petition.
