GETTING READY: Work is going on at a brisk pace at the Cauvery Junction underpass in Bangalore on Friday.

Bangalore: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Friday allowed motor vehicles to move through the new underpass at Cauvery Junction for about 20 minutes on trial basis.

The BBMP officials, with the assistance of the city traffic police, conducted the trial run at round 4.15 p.m.

BBMP Chief Engineer (Major Roads) K.S. Krishna Reddy said that there was smooth movement of vehicles at a speed of about 20 kmph to 30 kmph.

The movement of vehicles would become easier after asphalting of the roads, which would be done either on Saturday or Sunday, he added.
‘Satisfactory’

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic East) Seemanth Kumar Singh said that movement of vehicles was satisfactory and the police made certain suggestions to the BBMP for better traffic management.
LMVs

He said even light motor vehicles (LMVs) too will be allowed to take U-turn on the surface of the underpass to reach Bellary Road along with heavy vehicles.

However, Sadashivanagar 18th Cross would be open only for the LMVs, Mr. Seemanth Kumar Singh added.
