The meet also suggested a second alternative road to airport along with national highways and immediate traffic solution at the frequently-choked Byappanahalli level crossing.

Micro-traffic planning at Wheeler Road flyover and Lazar Road underbridge, proper bus routes for the area, proper roads, removal of bottlenecks at Komala junction and ITC gate junction, safe pedestrian crossings for elderly and children near Wheeler Road and railway crossing and immediate construction of Cauvery-type underpass by April at Hennur Ring Road Junction.

These were some of the urgent measures suggested to provide relief to people, at a symposium on ‘Traffic and Mass Transit in North-East Bangalore: A Three-Year Perspective’, organised at Cox Town here on Friday. The event was arranged by Sarvajnanagar (Cox Town) Citizens’ Forum.

The meet also suggested a second alternative road to airport along with national highways and immediate traffic solution at the frequently-choked Byappanahalli level crossing. BBMP East Joint Commissioner S N Nagaraju inaugurated the symposium.

Prof M N Sreechari, traffic advisor to government of Karnataka, Ananthaswamy, chief engineer (East) BBMP, T R Naveen, DTO, BBMP, and Mallikarjuna Swamy, ACP (traffic-East), attended.

Medium term schemes suggested were - providing timely and additional infrastructure like that of a new flyover at Mosque Road crossing, additional lanes to Banaswadi and Lingarajapura flyover, construction of a new flyover at Byappanahalli junction, providing proper multi modal public transport connectivity to the new railway station planned at Byappanahalli and construction of underpasses at Nagavara, Horamavu and Airport Expressway Junctions on Ring Road.

A plan for three years was drafted and presented to various agencies involved.
