Retain HAL airport for domestic flights: BKC
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Legislative Council Chairman, B K Chandrashekhar on Tuesday said the HAL airport should be retained for domestic flights, as road connectivity would be a big drawback for the new Bengaluru International Airport at Devanahalli.

Blaming successive State governments for not paying attention to the road connectivity issue he said, “It is known that it would be functional from March/April 2008. They should have thought of it two/three years ago.”
Earlier, while inspecting the work at the Cauvery junction underpass in the presence of BBMP engineers, he said the palike should have considered public views before starting off on the work. “Was it not possible to have had a fly-over instead of the underpass?” he told BBMP chief engineer (Major Roads) Krishna Reddy.

Mr Reddy replied that the BBMP could not consider the fly-over as it would come in the way of the proposed high-speed rail link project. Reddy told Deccan Herald, the palike hopes to complete the underpass work as soon as possible.
