BANGALORE: Four buses were torched by an irate mob at Wilson Garden after a speeding BMTC bus ran over a 26-year-old motorist, killing him on the spot, on around 9.45 p.m. on Saturday night.

The accident took place when a car hit the motorcycle which Noor Pasha alias Noor Mohammed was riding.

Pasha lost control and fell down, following which a BMTC bus ran over him resulting in his death near Al-Ameen college on Lalbagh road.

The bus sped away, which irked the onlookers who started stoning BMTC buses and setting them ablaze. Three BMTC buses and one KSRTC bus were subsequently damaged.

The furious mob, who refused to shift the deceased’s body, were pacified by policemen and later the body was shifted to Victoria hospital.

Police said that Pasha was wearing a helmet. The pillion rider, Mudasir, has sustained severe injuries and has been admitted in a nearby hospital.

According to the police, Noor Pasha and Mudasir were electricians and were working in a private firm on JC road.

The duo were residents of Mangammanaplaya in Bommanahalli. They were returning home after work when the accident occurred.

The angry mob condemned about the lack of system to monitor the over speeding buses, their disregard for other road users.

They demanded the need for setting up speed breakers and compensation for the deceased’s family. Traffic was affected for more that three hours.
