BANGALORE: The Bangalore Development Authority’s (BDA) proposal to create five new layouts might shortly receive the state government’s assent.

The Governor’s executive committee is likely to clear the proposal soon and this is expected to pave the way for the allotment of 90,000 plots in these five layouts.

Speaking to reporters at the inauguration of the newly repaired roads at Byatarayanapura on Thursday, BDA Commissioner MK Shankarlingegowda said that land acquisition would begin once the proposal had the Governor’s assent.

About 1.5 lakh sites will be developed in these five layouts and out of these 90,000 plots would be given to those who do not own sites.

The rest would be given as compensation to the landowners instead of cash. BDA is planning to go for budget housing scheme at these layouts and plots will be sold at low rates.

As per an earlier decision, BDA will not develop sites of less than 30x40 ft and instead build budget houses measuring 350 sq ft.

Three connecting roads at Byatarayanpura which had sustained heavy damage during the 2005 rains were repaired by BDA. Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur inaugurated the rebuilt roads. The three interlinked roads provide connectivity to NH-7 and to nearby areas.
