3 CMC roads get facelift
Bangalore, DHNS:

In line with its commitment to complete or launch projects every month, the Bangalore Development Authority on Thursday formally completed improvement works on three roads in the erstwhile Bytarayanapura CMC.
The roads were handed over to Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Administrator Dilip Rau, in the presence of Governor Rameshwar Thakur.

Damages due to rain

BDA Commissioner M K Shankaralinge Gowda said BDA had taken up the works (see box) on the roads after they were badly damaged during the rains in 2005.

“The improvement works were taken up in three packages. With the completion of the works connectivity to the area, especially to the schools in the area, has been considerably improved,” Gowda said.

Three packages

The works have been completed on a combined budget of Rs 10.44 crore. The works covered more than 9 km of roads in the three packages.

BDA has improved the existing carriageways by providing side drains and culverts, apart from strengthening and asphalting the stretches.

In December last year, the Governor had assured that BDA would complete or launch one project every month, till June 2008.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Rameshwar Thakur said the slew of ongoing BDA projects would go a long way in improving the living conditions of residents of the City.
