There will be 24-hour sweeping between Hebbal flyover and International Airport (26 km) in three shifts...


Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has planned to maintain cleanliness on the road leading to Bangalore International Airport on par with international standards.

There will be 24-hour sweeping between Hebbal flyover and International Airport (26 km) in three shifts.

Mechanical sweepers will be on the road in the night, while in the day-time manual sweeping will be done.

Byatarayanapura zone of the Palike has invited tenders for the maintenance of the road. Joint Commissioner of the Zone N Jayaram said, the Palike has decided to maintain the road on par with international standards, as this is the road where international tourists, guests will be travelling.

Sweepers will have a uniform and they will be on the road for 24 hours. Between 11 pm and 6 am mechanical sweepers will sweep. “Our goal is to make sure that not even a piece of paper is left on the road for more than five minutes,” he said.

Health Officer of the Zone Balasundar said, the estimated cost for the work would be around Rs 22 lakh per month. While the actual cost for the project will be decided after the tender process is completed. “The Palike is aiming at starting sweeping works before the International airport is inaugurated formally. Every international visitor should feel that he is travelling on a well-maintained road.”

The Palike has invited tenders for two packages. One package covers the road between Hebbal flyover and Hunasemarahalli and the other from Hunasemarahalli to International Airport.
