BANGALORE: Former minister and senior Congress leader A Krishnappa has submitted memorandum to Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav demanding a separate loop to cable-stayed bridge at K R Puram and construction of a string of railway over bridges to ease traffic congestion in Bangalore.

The demand list included construction of railway overbridges at Hoodu village and Byappana Halli junction in Bangalore East taluk.

Drawing the attention of the Railway Minister to alarming traffic congestion at the KR Puram cable-stayed bridge, Krishnappa wanted the minister to construct an additional loop to the bridge for smooth flow of traffic coming from ITPL on Whitefield road.

He also wanted the Railway Department to construct four more vents under the Salem bridge on NH-4 near Benniganahalli.

Krishnappa explained the need for immediate action on these works as the area had developed as the hub of Bangalore’s information technology and bio-technology boom.

There are two problems here. One is for people going to Whitefield and the other for those who want to take Outer Ring Road. These can be solved if loops run out of cable bridge towards ORR and Whitefield. KR Puram needs immediate attention as the situation is worsening day by day.

Sir,

I travel everyday to and fro from hennur to Marathahalli for work. I think Mr.Krishnappa has pointed out the problem rightly . The situation is very dangerous and as a two wheeler rider i always run the risk of getting run over by buses at the KR puram bus. I hope the railway people listen to Mr.Krishnappa and loops are constructed to ease the flow of traffic , even widening the land nearby will ease the problem to some extent.

Hariharan
