BANGALORE: Suvarna Yuga, the new political party floated by Mahima Patel, son of former chief minister J H Patel has started making quiet inroads into slums of Bangalore.

A group of party workers led by general secretary Dr Usha Kulkarni, Anupama Desai, Ramamurthy and Sampath Kumar visited Eejipura on Sunday and listened to the grievances of the residents. A medical camp was organised to provide free health check-up and medicines were distributed.

A similar programme was organised in L R Colony slum. The party leaders explained the ideology of Suvarna Yuga party to fight for a fair share in national wealth for the deprived sections, bridging the gap between rich and the poor and fighting corruption.

The party would intensify its mass contact programmes through medical camps, help for poor students and awareness against alcoholism, the leaders said.
