Many resident welfare associations on Sunday held protest rallies opposing the Sakrama scheme in the City.
Hundreds of members of the Confederation of Resident Welfare Associations, Mahadevapura Zone, comprising 12 associations, took out a rally from the K R Puram railway station till Old Madras Road, opposing the scheme.

The protesters blocked Old Madras Road near Mariyappa Temple for some time. The Association Secretary Girish Kumar urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to put the scheme on hold till a popular government comes into existence. The scheme is full of anomalies and meant to harass the common man, he alleged.

Similarly, members of the Bommanahalli Resident Welfare Association staged a protest rally from Garvebavipalya Main Road to Hogasandra bus stand, against the scheme.

The Sakrama scheme, which proposes to regularise unauthorised developments, has drawn criticism from citizens across Bangalore. The Karnataka High Court is taking up a hearing in this regard on Monday.
