BMIC expressway short of land
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Limited spokesman said the work was complete "except at a few patches where land was not made available and approval for construction of bridges was required"...
Construction work on available land for Section A of the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMIC) including link road, peripheral road and portions of the expressway, has been completed, according to promoters of the corridor, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Limited (NICE).
A company spokesman said the work was complete “except at a few patches where land was not made available and approval for construction of bridges was required”. According to NICE, the company requires land for the link road (on three locations), peripheral road (four locations) and expressway (8 kms of road, apart from land for two interchanges). Approvals from the BBMP, BWSSB and PWD are also pending on certain locations, he said.
More than 350 acres of land is estimated as a combined requirement for the completion of the 9.1-km link road from SH-17, the 41-km peripheral road from NH-7 to NH-4 and the 13.2-km expressway, including interchanges. The link road is short on more than 22 acres, while the peripheral road on around 50 acres, the spokesman said.
The expressway in Section A takes off from Bangalore towards Mysore up to Bidadi.
While five kilometres of the expressway commencing from the Bangalore-end is completed, the additional 184 acres (for the road from km 5 to km 13.2) and 100 acres (for two interchanges) have not been transferred to the company, he said.
The company also claimed that the KIADB was yet to make land available for the commencement of construction of the road from the Mysore end.
At km 1.4 of the link road, the BBMP is yet to communicate approval for the diversion at the Ring road and for integrating the bridge and the ramps across the Outer Ring Road, the spokesman said.
BWSSB work
Further, at km 5.4 of the link road, the BWSSB has not yet commenced the work to shift the water pipeline in the alignment.
On the peripheral road (between km 23.4 and km 24.2; Mysore Road Junction), the approval/clearance for construction of the bridge across Mysore–Bangalore Road (SH-17) is pending, he said.
