PIL seeks curbs on banners, hoardings Bangalore: The high court on Thursday admitted a PIL seeking a direction to the authorities to ensure that no u n a u t h o - rised banners and hoardings are put up in any part of Bangalore.
The PIL has also requested the court to direct the authorities to collect penalty from those who display such banners and hoardings.
A division Bench headed by Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph ordered issuance of notices to the urban development department as well as the BBMP on plea by B Krishna Bhat.
“Recently, there has been a spurt in erecting banners of several leaders of national or local importance, and such banners are put up at the drop of a hat. The individuals or organisations never bother to remove them even after the event is over. These banners have become a mode of self-advertising for the leaders at the grassroots level,” the petitioner said.
