Palike starts de-silting Ulsoor tank
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike has been a busy bee cleaning up the Ulsoor tank for the last four days.

The stink that left residents around Ulsoor tank uncomfortable for five days is receding gradually. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike has been a busy bee cleaning up the tank for the last four days.

Deccan Herald had carried reports on October 13 and 14 on the inconvenience caused to the students of RBANMS First Grade College and the public around the tank due to bad odour. It was a result of clay and oil that got collected in water due to immersion of Ganesha idols and the seeping of drain water.

Executive Engineer of Bharatinagar division K T Nagaraj said 90 per cent of the cleaning work has been completed. “The public around the tank can heave a sigh a relief by Tuesday. One among the reasons for bad smell is the silt collected at the sedimentation tank. If the tank is de-silted at least once in two years there will be no problem. We have now undertaken this task” he said.
