How secure in Bangalore?

How secure in Bangalore?
Times NOW

Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ajmer and most recently Amritsar have all witnessed scenes of carnage, all products of terrorists looking to end what we cherish the most – life. But what has the Government done to prevent such attacks? Can we be assured of their safety? TIMES NOW decided to put the security arrangements at various landmarks in Bangalore to an acid test, and the results were to say the least – shocking.

We began by putting together a fake bomb using all ingredients most commonly found at blast sites with nails, ball bearings, wires and most importantly a cell phone. All this was packed up into a tiffin carrier, the idea being that with the help of metal detectors or frisking, we should be barred from entering.

The first stop was the prominent JN TATA Auditorium at the Indian Institute of Science, the very spot that witnessed the horrific IISC terror attack two years ago. We entered the premises, after telling the guard that we wanted to speak to the management. We got in without a fuss. What’s even more shocking is the absence of security, barring two private guards.

The next stop was the Vikas Soudha. This building made news after its plans were found in the hands of Fahad Hai, the prime accused in the Mysore terror plot. Despite this chilling find, security was virtually non-existent, barring surveillance cameras, which didn't go too far in preventing us from walking thorough the corridors of power armed with a fake bomb.

The Vikas Soudha houses several important ministerial offices and departments of the Government of Karnataka. Though there is now private security and modern surveillance equipment there, the security apparatus was still found wanting, forcing us to ask if prominent installations like these are really secure at all?
