Rain fury: Sorry state of affairs in BTM Layout

Rain fury: Sorry state of affairs in BTM Layout
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The rain aftermath continues to dog residents across the City. Reader P Narayan wrote to Deccan Herald, along with photographs, about the abysmal living conditions prevailing in his neighbourhood after the spate of showers that lashed over the last couple of days.
Narayan, a resident of BTM Ist Stage, Tavarakere, pointed out that the flooding and overflowing drainage were typical of the area after the rains.
“Year after year, despite many complaints and petitions, the situation remains the same in and around Ist Cross, 20th Main Road. It is very common that a heavy rain would not only quickly flood our houses but also open out all drainage chambers, resulting in sewage water filling up the storm drains,” he said. The sewage/drain water has also entered the sumps in houses, exposing the residents to infections and diseases, he said. The residents are also dreading the possible outbreak of epidemics in the area.
As garbage continues to be left uncleared on the heavily littered roads for days together, the residents are only hoping that the officials concerned would look their way and spare them the stench and misery.
