Hebbal flyover to be renamed
TIMES NEWS NETWORK
Bangalore: The Hebbal flyover will be renamed as the Kempe Gowda flyover. The government has approved a BDA proposal to rename it.
The BDA, which constructed the flyover, is planning to install Kempe Gowda’s statue on the pylon built at the centre of the flyover, which is supposed to be the biggest flyover in South Asia.
The flyover is the main link between the city and the International Airport coming up at Devanahalli.
The 5.35-km-long flyover was constructed at the cost of Rs 66.2 crore in 2003.
The superstructure had bagged the first prize in the 9th Bridge National Awards competition instituted by Indian Institution of Bridge Engineers.
