BBMP set to regularise unauthorised buildings

BBMP set to regularise unauthorised buildings
Bangalore, DHNS:

The stage is set for regularisation of unauthorised constructions. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) will start issuing applications for regularisation from September 17.
Applications are available at 210 post offices, 32 apex banks and 14 Bangalore One centres in Bangalore.
BBMP commissioner S Subramanya, addressing a press conference in Bangalore on Thursday, said that the Palike has set up 35 information kiosks to provide information. As per the amended Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act, the public has three months’ time to file applications for regularisation. The buildings, which were constructed in violation of the by-laws before February 3, 2007, the day when the act was notified, will be considered for regularisation.
Applications should be submitted on or before December 14, 2007. However as per the Act supply of water and electricity to the unauthorised building, whose owner does not file application for regularisation before December 14, will be disconnected with prior notice.
Types of violations
The commissioner said the Act allows regularisation of four types of violations. They are: violations related to formation of sites, change in land-use, set back and floor area ration (FAR). Applications submitted will be scrutinised by a screening committee headed by the joint commissioner. Constructions whose set back and FAR violations are within the permissible limit (50 per cent for residential and 25 for commercial establishments) will be regularised as per the recommendations of screening committees.
