Government defends airport expressway project

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Government has said that it had decided to construct an expressway between Bangalore city and the international airport coming up at Devanahalli as the existing roads would be inadequate for the traffic expected after the airport was commissioned.

In its statement of objections filed before the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday, the Government said that National Highway 7 could not be the sole access to the airport.

The Government has filed the statement of objections after Hemachandra and 26 residents of Kyalasanahalli have questioned the decision of the Bangalore Metropolitan Regional Development Authority in publishing a draft scheme of the expressway from Bangalore to the Airport.
