Land encroached

Land encroached

Bangalore: If you are planning to buy plots at Pilleganahalli, survey No. 1, then beware. If you have already bought any, then rush to the authorities. For, the parties who are selling sites here are facing criminal charges, as they have encroached upon government land.
Of the 113 acres leased out to Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE), one Raheem Pasha and various other parties have produced false documents and encroached upon 47 acres of this land.
This came to light when the Karnataka Legislature Joint House Committee started conducting inspections on government lands being encroached.
During a spot inspection on Tuesday, chairman of the committee, A T Ramaswamy, told reporters that Pasha, who was registered as a journalist, had encroached upon 17 acres of this land and had built a private layout in the same.
He said the Land Reforms Act had been severely violated in this case. “The encroachers should be suitably punished, but little has been done by the departments concerned.’’
Ramaswamy and his squadron visited nine areas where government land has been encroached. Around 136 acres of land worth Rs 200 crore were under scrutiny of the committee this week, where crushing units, farm lands, apartments, and houses have come up in varied types of government lands. The committee paid a visit to Magadi taluk, where around 15 stone crushing units are functioning illegally, despite being served with notices.
One of the encroachers is construction major Larson and Tubro, which has encroached upon 23.13 acres of land in Sulivara village for quarrying purposes. The revenue department has so far recovered 8.13 acres of land from the company.
