Blore gets more constituencies

The number of Assembly constituencies in Bangalore city has been increased from 16 to 28, even as the State Urban Development department is in the process of formation of new 145 wards of newly-formed Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

The delimitation of Assembly constituencies has been done based on 100 wards of erstwhile BMP and eight CMCs’ wards.

The new Assembly constituencies’ maps will be entirely different from the new BBMP ward maps and they will not be coterminous. In fact, the Centre’s Delimitation Committee has not taken into consideration the State Government’s recent decision to form BBMP, by amalgamating eight CMCs and 110 villages.
