Another ring road for City

The State Cabinet on Wednesday gave its approval for laying a ring road connecting Magadi Road to Mysore Road on the City outskirts.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M P Prakash said the new road would be laid at a cost of Rs 72.83 crore. About 9.3 acres of land at Srighandanur, Sajjapalya and Malagala villages under Yeshwantpur hobli will be acquired for the project to be executed by the BDA.

The Cabinet also approved a Special Purpose Vehicle for setting up three 1000-MW thermal power projects, one each at Chamlapur in Mysore district, Ghataprabha in Belgaum and Jewargi in Gulbarga. The SPV will help acquire land and water for setting up the projects.

It also okayed payment of a monthly honorarium of Rs 2,000 to village accountants till their services are regularised. There are about 10,000 VAs in the State. At present yearly approval of the Cabinet is needed for making the payment.
