Trim roadside trees: Revanna

BANGALORE: In the wake of increasing damage to human lives and properties due to falling trees, PWD and Power Minister H D Revanna has instructed his officials to trim or cut roadside trees which were old and decaying.

He told reporters that torrential rains and wind had uprooted several trees on the roadside in the state causing death and damage to the properties.

Therefore, instruction had been given to DCs, PWD and forest officials, he added. Officials of the KPTCL and five ESCOMs have also been told to undertake repair work immediately wherever power supply had been affected.

He said that several kilometres of roads and electric poles were damaged. The loss is estimated at Rs 80 crore.
