A new weekend getaway for City

A new weekend getaway for City
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Bangaloreans can boast of a perfect weekend family getaway, courtesy NICE (Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise) at Sompura on the expressway connecting the City to Mysore.
It’s not just that, an exclusive film City spread across 300 acres is also on the cards.
Disclosing this after throwing open the Freedom Park on the NICE expressway at the clover leaf junction at Sompura Village near Kengeri on Saturday, Ashok Kheny, Chairman, NICE, said that the Rs 1,000 crore project would make Bangalore the entertainment hub of the country.
“After IT and BT, the entertainment industry is the next big revolution. The project will house film and sound recording studios comparable to Hollywood standards. With facilities such as special effects, post production and animation, we hope to not just produce local films but also attract producers of English films from America and Europe” said Kheny.
The film City could take shape by this year’s end. The NICE chief also added that his Kannada film, Yella OK, Maduve Yake starring model Madhuri Bhattacharya would be released nationwide soon for which a date is yet to be announced.
Its Hindi version Shaadi ke After Effects with Salman Khan in the lead role would also follow shortly. “If the movie turns out be a box office hit, we will produce 300 films a year”
The freedom park, as Kheny put it, is a tribute to the freedom of the press, a hallmark of Indian democracy. “A flag with the message ‘The Pen is Mightier than the Sword’ would flutter at all times signifying the freedom of speech and expression” he said.
A host of journalists attended the inauguration that was marked by a fireworks display that lit up the night sky.
The park will be having fireworks display and cultural shows on Saturdays and Sundays. No toll or entry fee would be charged for entry.
