Diamond District: HC seeks action
Bangalore, DH News Service:
The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the state government to initiate action against those persons whose names figure in the inquiry report in connection with the irregularities in the Diamond District.

The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the state government to initiate action against those persons whose names figure in the inquiry report in connection with the irregularities in the Diamond District.
Justice Ram Mohan Reddy, who on the last date of hearing had taken serious exception to the inaction of the government in this matter, granted nine weeks time to initiate action.
Around 90 petitioners had moved the court stating that despite purchasing flats in the Diamond District project, they had been treated as tenants by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. It was further alleged that successive governments had turned a blind eye to the irregularities in the project. An inquiry conducted on the allegations had named late Ramakrishna Hegde, former chief minister, H G V Reddy, former BDA chairman, K Srinivas, former director of tourism, D S Srikantmurthy, former KSTDC chairman and others in the report. The Chief Secretary appeared before the court as per its earlier directions. He had been summoned to explain the action taken in this case.
