Waiting for the big day

WAITING FOR THE BIG DAY: An aerial view of M G Road shows the promenade. All is not lost. Here is some cheer for the green brigade. The BMRCL environment advisory committee, which met on Monday decided to translocate three varieties of trees— tabubia, pongamia and mahogany — from MG Road promenade to Manekshaw Parade Grounds. The committee arrived at the decision after studying the merits of trees, cost of translocation and chances of their survival. The authorities will initially start translocation of three trees and if feasible, a study will be carried out for translocation of trees along the entire Metro Rail alignment. Another decision was to monitor sulphate levels in atmosphere and impact on ozone layer
