BANGALORE: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner K. Jairaj on Tuesday directed officials to complete the work of removing silt from storm water drains in the next ten days.
Mr. Jairaj, who inspected rain-affected areas, which Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy visited last week, told the officials to speed up the work and complete it before the deadline given by the Chief Minister. According to a press release, the Commissioner inspected the work of silt removal from drains in Kamakya Layout.
Mr. Jairaj also inspected the ongoing silt-removal work at the drain near the Mysore Road-Ring Road junction and asked officials to put up caution boards.
He later visited Kadrinehalli 100 Feet Road, Hosur Road, Ejipura, and areas surrounding the National Games Village, Broadway Road and Annaswamy Mudaliar Road, which had been affected by the rains.
At Ejipura, residents of the Economically Weaker Section housing quarters gheraoed the Commissioner demanding that they be allotted houses elsewhere as the quarters were reportedly in a dilapidated condition.
