Rain brings down temperature

Rain brings down temperature

BANGALORE: It may be late, but its arrival has been greeted with much joy by Bangaloreans, not accustomed to the April heat.

Tree fall

As night showers continued in the city on the third consecutive day on Friday, stray incidents of electricity poles and trees falling were reported at Mysore Road, Gayathrinagar and J.P. Nagar. Many people returning home from office got stuck in the rain.

There were traffic jams at a few places.

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) control rooms did not record any incident of waterlogging on roads nor were any rain-related accidents reported.

Even though temperature came down, it will not continue on a sustained basis.

"Summer rainfall is not widespread; it is localised. There will be no drastic change in the temperature. It will hover around 34 and 35 degrees Celsius for the next few days, till the direction of the wind changes. We can probably expect rain in the next week also," said G.S. Vijayraghavan, Director, Meteorological Department.
