BANGALORE: The Telecom Layout Residents' Welfare Association, Venkatala, Yelahan- ka, has urged the Government and the Bangalore Development Authority to adhere to the original alignment while forming the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) that passes through Venkatala village. Association president Y.N. Ashok told presspersons here on Saturday that the BDA had in November 2005 informed people that the original alignment could not be modified. However, for reasons known to authorities concerned, the alignment was changed. He alleged that the change was made to save lands belonging to influential persons.

While the BDA had stated that places of religious importance and educational institutions come on proposed PRR's original alignment, the new alignment too would pass through similar structures, he noted. The land sought to be acquired for PRR under new alignment had been earmarked as residential zone in the Comprehensive Development Plan. Several layouts have come up on the land in question and many dwellings have been built, Mr. Ashok said.

He urged the Government and BDA to stick to the original alignment.
