BANGALORE: Thousands of farmers from Mandya, under the leadership of a local MLA, held a procession from Cubbon Park to Raj Bhavan on Tuesday evening, protesting the Cauvery Tribunal’s verdict. Traffic on Raj Bhavan Road was blocked for over two hours, leading to a heavy traffic jam.

The farmers, who reached the city on vehicles, took out a march till the Raj Bhavan. They demanded that all of them be allowed to meet the Governor, but this resulted in a heated exchange of words between the agitators and senior policemen.

The senior police officials later pacified the crowd and let only a few leaders into the Raj Bhavan. Meanwhile, some protesters also began an agitation as there was no drinking water available anywhere near Raj Bhavan. The police had to
