Nearly 47 per cent of work at the site of the upcoming international airport in Devanahalli has been completed, according to Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL)...

Nearly 47 per cent of work at the site of the upcoming international airport in Devanahalli has been completed, according to Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL). The airport’s January progress card showed commencement of work on concessionaire infrastructure, with Air India-SATS and Taj-SATS laying the foundation stone for the cargo warehouse and flight catering facility respectively.

At the fuel farm, the foundation works for fuel tanks continued, while Indian Oil Skytanking also started construction of its main administrative building.

Work at the terminal building continued, with installation of roof glazing and laying of the granite flooring in the first floor commencing during January. Construction work of the top cabin at the Air Traffic Control tower is also progressing.

The main asphalt layer work is under progress on the four-km runway, while initial work on installation of airfield lights and transformers continued. BIAL is also constructing a four-lane approach road to the airport.
