Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) spokesperson on Tuesday clarified that work on the Rail Overbridge near Cooke Town would kick off soon and will be completed according to the schedule, in November 2007.

Reacting to a report that appeared in these columns with regard to Cooke Town residents’ plan to protest against delay in the work, the BBMP spokesperson said in a statement that after a meeting between the representatives of BBMP and ITC (that owns land involved in the project) on Tuesday, the latter had agreed to shift its hoardings and cycle stand to make way for the construction.

“The time consumed for the transfer of land is due to administrative and technical processes involved and ITC has been very co-operative in the interest of developmental work in the City,” the statement said.
