BANGALORE: Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Chief Engineer (East) A.K. Gopalswamy on Thursday slapped a fine of Rs 1.3 lakh on Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for taking up digging of roads in violation of Road Opening and Restoration Protocol.

According to a release, BWSSB personnel had taken up digging of roads at six places without obtaining permission from the BMP. Unauthorised digging was noticed at the junction of Nandidurga Road-Munireddypalya Main Road; Mathadahalli Main Road; Opposite Literacy Mission Centre on Banaswadi Main Road; Opposite Ramesh Jewellery on CMR Road; Opposite Jalavayu Vihar; and Hennur Main Road.

The equipment used for digging had been seized, the release said.
