The State Government will shortly come out with final notification for land acquisition for the first seven-km stretch of Bangalore Metro, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) Managing Director V Madhu disclosed on Saturday.

“The draft of the notification has already been forwarded to the Government and final notification is expected any movement,” he said, making a presentation on Bangalore Metro rail at NIAS campus in Bangalore. This in other words means that the BMRC can take possession of private land identified for the project once the final notification is out in this stretch. “We will go ahead with construction by January-end, as has been announced,” he stated. In fact, the BMRC has decided not to wait for the appointment of the project consultants to begin the work on “Reach 1” — the 7-km stretch of the metro rail project between Byappanahalli and Kanteerava Stadium, he said, adding that appointment of consultants would take at least three months’ time.

Presently, work on utility shifting is on and the geo-technical survey has been been completed for “Reach 1”, he said.
