Making the announcement himself at the Fashion Show cum Art Auction that was organised as part of the Habba on Thursday, Mr Kheny said that he wanted to introduce the carnival concept in the City on a large-scale, to match international standards, as he wanted to carry forward the Habba spirit.

He added that the Habba events could be held at the convention centre as it was a covered venue and could house over 10,000 people. The Centre which will host its first exhibition in January is being built in association with the Indian Machine Tools and Manufacturers Association.

Charity

Proceeds from the six paintings, works of art by Bangalore-based artists which were on auction on Thursday will be given away in charity, the Habba organisers said.

Artist K K Raghava had painted a Toyota Corolla car portraying the various hues of Indian culture, on request by the organisers. The concept ‘Art in Motion’ which celebrates the cultural festivities with vibrant colours will be displayed to a larger audience during the Habba.

The organisers said that the car would be driven around the City on the remaining three days of the Habba, after which it would be registered in the Vintage Car Rally under the New Era category. They said that the car could be rented out by enthusiasts from the Toyota dealers.

The Fashion show had models flaunting Titan brand watches and Tanishq jewellry, with the show choreographed by fashion guru Prasad Bidapa. The Habba on its fifth day hosted Gundecha brothers for a recital in Ambedkar Bhavan and Pratibha Prahalad’s classical dance at Ravindra Kalakshetra. There were outdoor activities like street theatre and magic across the City too.

The grand finale of the Habba will be hosted at Palace Grounds from Friday evening onwards, with a performance by Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma and Birju Maharaj.
