BANGALORE: Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has finally kickstarted the repair of the roads affected by last year’s monsoon.

Commissioner K Jairaj on Wednesday commenced the works on 128 kms of road in BMP south zone.

The work in south zone alone would cost Rs 15 crore. The flood affected roads would be repaired in 4 phases in all the three zones.

On Wednesday, road works in 5 wards were started. A BMP release said that the works would be completed by December 15.

The commissioner has ordered the contractors to use bitumen mixed only at hot mix plants and to use mechanised methods for laying the asphalt.

He also asked the contractors to use vibrator rollers and ensure that roadside drains were cleaned before laying the asphalt.
